After driving from Cincinnati to Milwaukee, we went to dinner before the Cubs Brewers game at a place called Sobelman's Pub and Grill. It is a Milwaukee institution and was recommended by the great Dale Fleury who grew up in Wisconsin.
Sobelman's is known for its cheeseburgers. Jeannie and I split one and it was great.
We started off though with shrimp torpedos (shrimp rolled in panko bread crumbs and deep fried).
We drove to the game and hundreds were tailgaiting. Weather was great.
Jeannie went to a good location and put two fingers in the air seeking tickets. After talking with numerous people selling tickets, a man named Greg from Wisconsin gave her 3 terrific tickets. These were his season tickets, but he had been invited to a box that night.
Jeannie and I gave the third ticket to Al (seen below with us). Al, whose son has done two tours in Iraq, is with a group called Wisconsin We Care which supports our troops with packages from home. Al said that the group was allowed to be outside the stadium about 4 times per year to collect money. He was not planning to go to the game. In fact he had never seen a Brewer game at Miller Park. So, Greg's ticket gift not only provided a great night for Jeannie and me, but also for Al.
The seats were on the 4th row close to first base.
Sitting in front of us was Katie from Appleton, Wisconsin. I told her about the blog, and we would post her her picture. She was so pleased, she fired off a little surprise PDA.
