Day 6: Heartbreak in Baltimore

Day 6:  We drove from Pittsburgh to Baltimore arriving about 5:30.

We will start at the end of the story --On the road we always root for the home team (unless the Texas Rangers are the visiting team).  Tonight the Orioles had a one run lead going into the top of the ninth, and the Rays scored one run to tie the game 5-5.  The game went to extra innings and the Rays won in the eleventh 7-5.

Rays are celebrating in the background at the pitcher's mound.

This is our hotel right at Baltimore's Inner Harbor which is about 1/2 mile east of the Orioles Ball Park at Camden Yards.  You can see there is a lot of activity before the game.

From the Inner Harbor, we walked to the ball park.  This is the east side of the famous warehouse that you see behind right field.  When they built the ball park, instead of tearing down the warehouse, they make it part of the park.

This is the alley between the right field stands and the warehouse.  There are lots of souvenir shops and places to buy food and drink.
Heading toward our seats
The first pitch

We switched seats and moved to seats down the first base line where we made friends with John and Paul (no George and Ringo).  They grew up in Connecticut (Red Sox Fans), but John (on the left) moved to Baltimore a few months ago.  These guys are funny, really funny.  The four of us are going to make Hangover Four together, but probably only two of us will be hungover.
Paul wante big time exposure on the blog, so here is sort of an Andy Warhol expose.

The O's had a couple of home runs (same guy)
But in the end, the Rays won in 11 innings 7-5.

On Sunday the two teams play a day game, and we will be there.
