Day 19: Philadelphia, Tampa Rays at Phillies

First visit to Citizen's Bank Park, home of the Philadelphis Phillies.
Great parking facilities.
Next to the baseball park is the Eagles' Football Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field
And also the 76ers Basketball Stadium, the Wells Fargo Center
View from our first seats, last row under the overhang. Cool, but noisy.
Philly Jimmy Rollins heading to the plate after he hits a 2-run home run in the third inning cutting the Tampa Rays lead to 3 to 2.
View from our second seats.
Philly Juan Pierre (half Spanish, half French?) heading to the plate after hitting a 3- run home run in the 4th inning. Phillies lead 5-3.
The Philly Phanatic and some little-girl dancers entertaining between innings.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
The Rays trailed 6 to 4 going into the top of the ninth. To great fanfare, the Phillies brought in their closer, Jonathan Papelbon, formerly of the Red Sox. He gave up 2 runs, and the Rays tied the game. The Philly fans booed, not the Rays, but their pitcher, Papelbon.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the score tied 6 to 6, the Phillies send Jim Thome to the plate to pinch hit. Thome hits a walk off home run. The Phillies win 7 to 6.
This is Thome's 13th career walk off home run, a major league record.

On Sunday we go to Boston to see the Braves play the Red Sox.
