Day 3: June 7, a beautiful day in Oakland

Rangers at Athletics, 64 degrees, no clouds, 12:35 Pacific time start, over 1000 ranger fans wearing the colors, Yu Darvish pitching.

Rangers lose 7-1, but A's fans happy to take 3 out of 4.

We are off to Napa to drown our sorrows, and tomorrow, San Francisco.

Our dinner experience tonight was as good (great, awesome, sumptuous) as the Rangers were bad (1 run total in the last two games).

We went to "Goose and Gander" in St. Helena which is in the northern part of Napa Valley.

This is Jeannie, after the meal, with the owners and the chef.

On the left is Executive Chef Kelly McCown, and on the right are the owners, Andrew and Trisha Florsheim. Andrew is from Chicago and Trisha is from California. They opened Goose and Gander about a month ago. It is great, it is going great, so you better get there before the prices, which are quite reasonable, go up.

One of their best moves was hiring Kelsey, who is the hostess.

Kelsey took most of the pictures including this one of Jeannie and me on the patio.

Our waiter was super in every way.

And what a surprise, at least from my point of view, in the restroom.

Trisha gave Jeannie some San Francisco restaurant suggestions, and Andrew gave us some Chicago recommendations.

All of these people are Texas-nice, maybe even Georgia-nice. Add this to a relaxing ambience, assiduous service and tasty food, and this made for a wonderful evening.
